Period 1
Safekeeping

3 Stars***
I gave it 3 stars because a most of the time the book is kind of confusing because you don't know whats going on, like one example is I didn't know that the main character was a girl until I read half the book, i thought that the main character was a boy.
Setting:
This story started from Vermont which was were the girls parents lived but they were gone when she got there so she started walking to Canada because that's where she agreed to go if anything ever really bad happened, and as she take her long walk she meets another girl and they become friends after she helps here when she gets sick and they walk there together and once they get to Canada they live in this abandoned schoolhouse and they have a Lady that leaves theme food and supplies almost every day behind the barn.
Main characters:
There are technically 2 main character but the second one doesn't come into the story until after 1/4th of the book. One of the main characters is Radley, and the other characters name if Cecilia.
Radley:
Radley is the character you read about from the beginning of the book and she is a really friendly girl and she really misses her parent and most of the time that she walks in the story it talks about how she would treat her parents much better and become a much better child and she wont take anything for granted. I also noticed that she likes to make friends and its very easy for her to open up.
Cecilia:
Cecilia doesn't come in to the story until after the first 1/4th of the book. one of the things that I noticed is that she doesn't really like to open up to people and shes kind of shy but at the same time tough and smart too. She has a dog names Jerry Lee and he is a very smart dog but Cecilia starts opening up more towards the second half of the book.
Main Plot Events:
In the beginning of the story it starts off with Radley (the main character) arriving at the airport near Vermont. She just arrived from Haiti, she was there with a missionary helping kids like feeding them and building them homes and things like that. When she gets to the airport she waits for her parents but they never come so she ends up taking a long walk home from the airport and when she gets home her parents were not there and the house seems as if it was abandoned and she ends up leaving for Canada because that's where her parents told her to go if something bad ever happened, and in this case the President of America was killed, So now she is walking to Canada and when she is about half way there she gets a friend by helping her when she gets sick from not eating enough. At first this girl is very rude and doesn't really talk at all, but once they got to Canada they found a schoolhouse and there they became closer to each other. They also got this Lady and they call her the "Lady of the Barn" and she leaves them food and things they would need behind the barn. But they knew that they couldn't just live there forever so they went back into the United States and started a new life.Conflicts:
- Internal conflict:
- Radley is mad at herself about the way she treated her parents and how she was so ungrateful back then.
- External conflict:
- Radley and Cecilia are trying to stay from the police who are technically arresting a bunch of random people so they had to hide a lot.
Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to people that like to read book about surviving and kind of adventure kind of books. This book has a lot parts where the main character, Radley talks to herself in her head about what she is going to do and things like that. In my opinion I didn't really like it because it's not really the type of book that I'm interested in.
I like how you made it look nice.
